Thanksgiving Menu.

Thanksgiving this year is going to be just me and my mama (and puppy, who also has a special surprise coming his way), but this is what our plan is:

WEDNESDAY

tonight she comes in and we’re going to go down and see the macy’s day balloons in person, which she’s wanted to do her whole life and never has.  i’ve had to trek through those damn balloons for three years in a row to get home from work, so i’m less excited - but it’s what she really wants, and she’s mama.  i’m making us little tea sandwiches to eat before we go (or after while we’re watching glee, whatever suits): dill, tomato, and caviar.

TURKEYDAY

ahhah!  it does not make sense to make a turkey that would take up my entire little fridge for just two people.  so i’m making us almond-encrusted quail with smashed sage potatoes on the side and dressing (in the south, we call stuffing cooked outside the turkey dressing) with cranberries and brandy.  i’m also making a green bean casserole.   we’ll have a cheese plate in the morning. and we’re going to put up the christmas decorations around my apartment and go for a nice walk in central park.

edit: and cranberry mint bundt cake with hardsauce.

FRIDAY

leftovers.  sorry. no one will notice.  ALABAMA AUBURN GAME.

SATURDAY

i’m making a chicken florentine casserole that looks insanely good from “being dead is no excuse,” my favorite southern cookbook outside the classic three: charleston receipts, huntsville heritage, and cook and lovett.

SUNDAY

recognize i should never eat again.

MONDAY

stuff face irrationally because omg holiday season food is HERE.
